An expression such as: ‘You just try one more time…’ / ‘If you do not do it on time, then…’
This is another example of a message which effectively disrupts communication. Its objective is to arouse fear in the recipient of the message, forcing them to carry out the order. A person uttering threats is not interested in what the other side has to say. The recipient of the message, instead of be willing to perform the task, may assume a defensive attitude – they may withdraw or decide to attack. In such circumstances it is difficult to say that any understanding exists between the respective parties.
