What will the client do before your next meeting and what will you do?
Agree goals, which should be measurable and attainable. For example: ‘You will prepare a draft business plan by…’, ‘you will provide the figures by… and I will help you to prepare your cash flow forecast’. If information is promised, then it is vital that it is provided quickly.
Goal setting clearly has to be collaborative. It may be particularly helpful, therefore, to encourage clients to prepare daily/weekly/monthly action lists. It may be appropriate to write down the action plan and give a copy to the client.
