The last component of the advisory process is parting – often the hardest part. The client, or the adviser, can too easily restart a particular aspect of the discussion.
Conclude by summarising key points from the session and agreeing an action plan – then wrap up. A large part, possibly all, of the action plan should involve action by the client. Agree that you will meet again after the client has undertaken their part of the action plan. You may choose to fix a date – or may prefer to leave it to the client.
